FOR CATS, DOGS & POCKET PETS
Obtaining accurate results of diagnostics tests is crucial. Blood tests, an ultrasound, digital X-rays, or an exam with the endoscope may be recommended by the veterinarians at Porter Veterinary Center to get valuable information about your pet.
Porter Veterinary Center has its own in-house laboratory that allows us to quickly test blood, urine, and fecal samples. The ability to perform these tests and get the results quickly lets us start appropriate treatment without waiting for an outside laboratory. Prompt treatment can help your pet make a complete recovery.
ENDOSCOPY REPLACES PET SURGERY
Porter Veterinary Center uses the endoscope to allow us to see inside your pet in a procedure that is much less invasive than surgery. This flexible tube allows our veterinarians to view many areas that require examination, including
- Esophagus
- Stomach
- Nasal passages
- Intestines
- Colon
- Vagina
Under general anesthesia, the fiber optic tube can let us take a tissue sample for further analysis or remove a foreign body from the stomach.
PET ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION
Ultrasound uses sound waves to make an image. It is painless and non-invasive. Your pet’s veterinarian can examine the pancreas, kidneys, lymph nodes, bladder, and prostate without causing pain or discomfort. We also use ultrasound to examine the heart and to evaluate a pregnancy. Here at Porter Veterinary Center, we will can bring someone in that we use for this service. So please give us notice as this will take a couple of days to arrange.
VETERINARY DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY FOR YOUR PET
Porter Veterinary Center uses digital radiography, also known as X-ray, as a valuable diagnostic imaging tool that can determine some pet health problems.
- Foreign object
- Tumors
- Broken bones
- Excess fluids
- Heart condition
- Dental problems
Digital images can be enlarged to show very fine detail, and they can easily be transmitted to a veterinary specialist if required. We will always discuss any of these tests with you when we recommend them, and if you ever have questions, please feel free to call us at (818) 349-8387.
